Deciding to retire from practicing dentistry after 44 years has not been an easy one. I love what I do and taking care of my patients over the years has brought me a tremendous amount of happiness. I have had the pleasure of meeting and providing care for some of the nicest people you can imagine, many of them I now call friends…I would not change that experience for the world.
I grew up in Tacoma, attended undergrad at Washington State University (Go Cougs!) and then on to dental school at the University of Washington. I was given the opportunity to start as an associate right out of dental school with two dentists who had practiced together for a number of years in downtown Puyallup… my time with these two dentists was humbling and invaluable. It was this experience that taught me the value of dentistry as an art, that things don’t always go as planned and you will never succeed and enjoy your work unless you respect your patients, allow them to gain your trust and always put their care and wellbeing first….the rest will follow. After my mentors retired, I decided to start my solo practice on South Hill of Puyallup.
Puyallup/South Hill has been a wonderful place for my wife and I to live, raise our daughter and work. Practicing dentistry in this community has been good to me. When I started my practice on South Hill, I was one of very few new businesses to locate here…it was risky. I can now say this move has served me well…no one could have anticipated the significant residential and economic growth on South Hill. Being located on Meridian (SR 161) frontage has been a huge advantage…Meridian is a 36 mile long state highway that serves Pierce and King counties. Puyallup is 10 miles SE of Tacoma and 35 miles south of Seattle. We are two and half hours from the Washington coast and an hour and a half from Mount Rainier National Park. Local lakes, rivers and of course the beautiful Cascade mountain range provide incredible outdoor activities such as fishing, hiking, biking, and water sports just to name a few. There are many local arts and cultural events…Puyallup is part of the annual Daffodil Festival and home of the Washington State Fair.
